He has long-standing partnerships with production houses across the globe and was one of the first to work with the entertainment community in Thailand to bring their shows stateside. In just two years with BGM, he has sold a wide variety of formats and docu-series to networks across the spectrum (including CW, BET, Food, HGTV, GSN, SyFy, and Syndication). In addition, he maintains deep and varied relationships with an incredible array of talent from the music industry that endeavor to cross into unscripted television, and garnered a bidding war on the first project in the arena taken to market. Beginning his career in the mid 1990’s, he worked as a executive with the Discovery Networks for almost 10 years where he helped develop and produce series across their stable of networks, including the hit franchise “The Crocodile Hunter: Croc Week.” Upon leaving the Discovery family Darryl made the transition to scripted, where he worked under legendary 20th Century Fox studio chairman, Bill Mechanic, helping to develop such highly acclaimed films as Coraline and Hacksaw Ridge. In 2010, Trell looked towards television once again when he co-founded Smoke and Mirrors Creative, under which he created and executive produced the hit series Mobbed on Fox. Additionally, he worked as an independent producer for 5 years, overseeing pilots and series in all reality genres and for a wide array of networks and production companies.
